Is there a person in the world who doesn't know about Jurassic Park? The original film is a classic and one of the greatest movies ever. All the more because it's based on a bestselling book that makes for equally awesome read. It's amazing how much we've learnt about life-forms and other planets, but we're still fundamentally lost when it comes to time travel. To travel to the past is the realm of science fiction. The original movie was released in 1993, and it follows a very simple story. The movie begins with Dr. Alan Grant being approached by another scientist, who is also a children's book author, to go to an island where he owns a research facility. He's keen on seeing dinosaurs alive because for many years he has been looking for proof about the existence of these creatures. And now he has found it in an island known as Isla Nublar (which means "clouded island" in Spanish) located off Costa Rica's Pacific coast. It's one of five islands owned by John Hammond (Richard Attenborough). It's a wildlife preserve, with the animals being bred there. After arriving at the island, Dr. Grant learns that Hammond has invited two other people along with him. The first is Dr. Ellie Sattler (Laura Dern) who is also a paleobotanist and an expert in plant fossils, who'll be assisting Hammond with his project. The other is a young boy named Tim (Joseph Mazzello), whom Hammond considers to be "a very bright kid" to help make the dinosaurs popular among children everywhere. Dr Grant isn't really fond of this idea since he feels that kids should not be made familiar with ferocious creatures like these. After they arrive at the research center, they are met by another of Hammond's employees, a computer expert (Jeff Goldberg), and then the tour begins. They see all kinds of dinosaurs: "oviraptors" (Oviraptor), "ankylosauruses" (Ankylosaurus), pterodactyluses (Pteranodon), and many others, including a "Tyrannosaurus Rex". All these creatures look as if they were just created yesterday. Grant is convinced that this is all done with CGI effects. But he is surprised to learn that these animals were bred using actual dinosaur DNA found in mosquitoes which had been preserved in amber. Hammond told him the story behind this discovery. After looking around the park and seeing all these dinosaurs, Grant goes to speak with Hammond. He tells him that he has come to "reverse engineer" these dinosaurs for an exhibition in Chicago. Hammond replies that they need to find a way of getting rid of some of these dinosaurs if they can't be used for educational purposes. He then explains to Grant the concept of a comsettling device, which will stun them, and then scientists can capture them alive for study. It's a similar idea of the "bionic man" from Jurassic Park IV: The Lost World , although Hammond is not looking for a lot more than an efficient means of disposal. cfa1e77820
